Hi- I ve been looking at the firefly 260's on sale with Swift.
I think it would make a good group machine, could anyone give me an idea of the operating costs of such an aircraft ?

thanks neil

Hi Neil ,

I was also busy to make cost estimation due to a visit to Swift .
For operating cost , it should be +/- 30 % higher than a MKII mainly due to the engine 6 Cyl maintenance  and the fuel consumption (+/- 1l/Min) .
the engine replacement is also increased by +/- 10000 EUR (+/- 25000 EUR in total for a new engine)

An annual maintenance cost (without fuel) is estimated around 7000 Eur/year if you fly +/- 100 hours  (without taking into account any depreciation )

Best Regards

Thierry

You could consider the M200 as a compromise.
4 cylinders (cheaper to maintain / replace) and much lower consumption if you're doing much take off, climb and aeros.  Mine costs £7K fixed costs on 100hrs/year incl hangarage, insurance etc.  Climb is around 25% faster than the M160 (same airframe) and take off/landing is shorter because of power and the 3 blade prop.  It's better for aeros too..
Mine is available for short term hire by schools, for example if their main airframe is in maintenance.
